The tournament will be a 10-week handicapped in-house "OAC Summer League" shot on the blue/white 5-spot target (Indoor 300 Round). The league will begin the week of July 13th and conclude on September 14th.
Participation is open to anyone who has been coached by me for at least three months or currently holds a range pass. There is no entry fee. Eligible archers will automatically be included unless they choose to opt out.
At the end of the "OAC Summer League," there will be three cash winners:
Archers may shoot their scores during their regular coaching sessions or come in at another time at no additional charge.
The first two weeks of the league will be used to establish handicaps. Participants are not required to shoot every week. Scores may be made up at any time during the 10-week period, and multiple weeks may be shot in the same week if needed.
How the Handicap League Works
A handicap league is designed so archers of different skill levels can compete fairly against each other.
During the first two weeks, each archer shoots scores that establish their average. That average becomes their handicap. The handicap gives less experienced shooters extra points and gives stronger shooters fewer or no extra points.
Each week, your actual score is combined with your handicap score. This adjusted score is what determines who wins the weekly matchup.
The goal is not simply to shoot the highest raw score, but to shoot better than your normal average. Because of that, beginners and advanced archers both have a fair chance to compete and win.
