Like many people of my generation, my interest in archery started in the late 1960s watching Fred Bear and Curt Gowdy on The American Sportsman television show. What began as curiosity eventually turned into a lifelong passion for the sport, coaching, equipment tuning, physical conditioning, and helping people improve both mentally and physically through archery.
Today I am a:
Over the years I have worked with:
Many of the students at Ohio Archery Center have been here for years. Some compete seriously while others simply enjoy learning and improving at their own pace. Both are equally important.
The philosophy at Ohio Archery Center is simple:
• Teach archery correctly.
• Help people improve.
• Create an environment where people feel comfortable learning.
Archery is one of the few sports where people of very different ages, personalities, and physical abilities can all participate together. Some students are naturally competitive. Others simply enjoy the focus, relaxation, and personal challenge that archery provides.
Every student is different.
Good coaching is not just about teaching someone to shoot arrows into the middle of a target. It is about understanding how people learn, what motivates them, and how to help them continue improving without burning out or becoming frustrated.
At Ohio Archery Center we focus heavily on:
The goal is not quick fixes. The goal is building strong fundamentals that allow people to continue improving for years.
Ohio Archery Center was intentionally designed to be different from many traditional archery shops and ranges.
We are not focused on retail sales, high-pressure marketing, or pushing people into equipment they do not need. In fact, we do very little retail business at all. Our focus is coaching, improvement, and community.
Over time the range has developed into something much larger than simply a place to shoot. Many students have formed long-term friendships through archery. Some shooters arrive early and stay late just to spend time practicing, talking, and relaxing with other archers.
The environment is intentionally welcoming, supportive, and low pressure.
For many people, archery becomes more than just a hobby. It becomes something that helps them:
That is what Ohio Archery Center is really about.
